SIPLI pursues interdisciplinary research within law and across other units of Syracuse University, publishes and presents in academic and practitioner forums, and combines this scholarship with effective teaching, timely policy analysis, and civic engagement.

  • Provides students within the College of Law and across the University solid training in issues of intellectual property commercialization and technology transfer.
  • Engages with bar associations, technology transfer offices, and research institutes on current issues relating to intellectual property development, innovation, and business law.
  • Publishes research findings pertaining to legislative and judicial developments in intellectual property, antitrust, business law, and property law relating to the management of intellectual property and technology assets.
  • Communicates through webinars, blogs, and newsletters on topical currents relevant to the start-up community and constituencies engaged in commercialization of innovative products and services.
  • Serves as a resource for providing non-legal consultation relating to legislatures, universities, research institutes, individual creators, and companies on issues of intellectual property commercialization.
